Fairly heavy going in the beginning, Edgar Allen Poe is not for the fainthearted. However, then the following stories were written by Mark Twain, O. Henry and Jack London and were well worth ploughing through the earlier stories. An enjoyable read.

She even convinced her husband to give all four of their children Welsh names.

Excellent book in an excellent series!

I enjoyed this whole series. Exiles in Time took us to Scotland and gave the back story on another character introduced in the last book. I love how the author weaves in the love story with all the action, and that it is assumed and not overstated. Her characters are given more development with each situation but are still unpredictable enough to keep you wanting more. I hope the author continues to write books for this series.

As I hadn't expected that there would be another book in the Cilmeri-series after 'Child in Time', I was pleasantly surprised when Sarah announced on her Facebook-page that there was a new book.
Having enjoyed the other books immensely, I immediately bought it.
'Exiles in Time' is about Callum, the MI5-agent who accidentally 'jumps' back in time with the others in the last book.
Even though, it focusses on characters hardly featured in the other books, it was very easy for me to lose myself in the story and the main characters. And I came to like these characters quite as much as I did Anna, Meg and of course David.

Absolutely riveting

Son of Perdition, the latest in the Chronicles of Brothers series from Wendy Alec cannot be easily described in a few words. At its most basic level it's a riveting and extremely tense supernatural thriller that renders one's nails well and truly gnawed by the time the stunning cliffhanging conclusion is reached.

The plot follows on from predecessors The Fall of Lucifer and Messiah: The First Judgement in that it continues the story of the three angelic archangel brothers Gabriel, Michael and Lucifer. However, in this novel the emphasis shifts from the heavenly realms to Earth with three human brothers whose existence parallels their angelic counterparts. Nick, Jason and Adrian belong to the hugely powerful and influential De Vere dynasty.

Jason is a cynical television tychoon whose personal life is a disaster. Nick is a playboy archaeologist whose debauched lifestyle has resulted in him contracting AIDS. Adrian is the charismatic ex-British prime minister involved in international diplomacy. These three brothers are each gradually drawn into a story about a frightening conspiracy designed to bring about the rule of the Antichrist.

This novel focuses on Nick and his journey to redemption as he uncovers his terrifying family history and the plans of those involved in the conspiracy. Here Wendy Alec chucks in all manner of urban legends and historical references - some of it well established fact - in order to build her story. Presidential assassinations, 9/11 and countless other events around which conspiracy theories have flourished are all drawn together here in a way that actually forces the reader to wonder just how much of this could be more than informed guesswork.

Those who read the previous novels expecting more of the same will discover that Son of Perdition has an altogether different tone. The non linear narrative jumps around in an innovative (but not confusing) way. Also, the more Earth bound plot is surprisingly dark in places, though shot through with an underlying optimism and some great touches of humour and whimsy. Twists and turns abound, and the afore-mentioned ending will leave the reader begging for book four.

Wendy Alec's writing is bold and confident, and seems to improve with each instalment. One can detect the presence of many influences - not just obvious ones like Tolkien or Dan Brown but also stories like The Godfather and others that deal in epic fashion with rich, influential families. The best so far

This is the best and most readable of the series so far. The others were overfull of words and heavy on descriptions badly drawn (needed better editing) that made the books hard to read for some people. But this one is different. Wendy Alec puts conspiracy theories (including AIDS conspiracy theories) into a theological light, taking the emphasis off the people who are making terrible and tragic decisions about our world and refocusing our eyes on the principalities and powers and rulers of darkness that are motivating them. She also attacks mean-spiritedness towards people who are "different" in an insightful way. Well worth the read.

Best yet

This is Wendy's strongest release yet. It is somewhat darker than the first two books but there were also funny moments that made me laugh out loud.
The fight between good and evil gathers pace in this instalment and it also answers some of the questions that were left unanswered from the previous books(although it raises a lot more of it's own).
There is plenty of intrigue and the way she has written this you are left wanting more.

If you enjoyed this then I'd also recommend 'Godstone - The Kairos Boxes' which is an excellent and very original new Christian fantasy:

Touching New Adult Contemp/Romance

I had the pleasure of reading Never Forget for the author as an ARC (advanced review copy).

The story is fun, sassy, and down right sweet as can be. Filled with promises of a long lasting love, former love 'em and leave 'em boy Alec becomes smitten with smart city girl Lexy.

Lexy has no use for another playboy in her life. Her brother Bing, great secondary character!, is a major playboy and she is determined that she won't ever fall for that. Lexy wasn't expecting Alec though! The moment she lays her eyes on him she is swooning. However, when she finds out about his bad boy past she makes it clear she is not up for a summer romance.

Soon Lexy realizes the heart wants what it wants. Will she be able to trust Alec with her heart and let herself fall? Will Alec be able to prove himself to Lexy and get her to give in?

A fun story about love and family. This story includes a whole cast of well written characters who will enchant you with their personality.

Emma Hart is an author whom, I believe, you will be getting to know much better in the future. I predict great things ahead for her.

AHMAZING

I'm always too lazy to review books, it's like it doesn't matter to me, but I had to this time. I don't care what the other reviews say, this book is amazing. As cliche as it sounds, this book is not your typical bad boy gets feisty, clever girl to fall in love with him, then he goes back to his old ways and breaks her heart. This book is heartfelt and you find yourself relating to the characters immediately. It's a great story about a city girl spending time with her family and her Gram in the country and finding unexpected love. I laughed, I cried and I swooned. Seriously, read this book.

This book is horrible

I am glad this book was free or I would be trying to find someway to my money back.
I had a really hard time getting into this book the writing was choppy. I am not British so I was not familiar with some of the terms and phrases used but that has no affect on my rating.I do however disagree with the review that said the dialog mirrored the southern USA because as a person from that area I thought the dialog was horrible and not something from this area.
Potential spoilers
1. There is nothing likable about lexy. She came across whiney,indecisive, immature..list can go on.
2. Alex was ok..It is strange to me he has this horrible reputation and everyone even the old people n the town know he is a man white and sorta laugh about it.
3. Why write a book with dual perspectives when 99% of the POV is Lexy. Should have just kept it that way considering Alecs did not add any value to the story.
4. The use of the word ain't is annoying. Enough said on that.
5. Educated girl wants sex for the first time with the known town man whore without a condom? Yeah right.
6. How dramatic can one be over health problems that were kept from them. Immaturity shining through.
I could keep going but my point has been made. I am not sure how this book has 5 star rating. I won't be reading anymore from this author.

I grew up in a very superstitious family and heard many true tales of witches. My grandmother used to cut my brother's hair and burn it so no witches would harm him with his hair cuttings.
While writing The Witch Narratives Trilogy (The Land of Enchantment) series, I did a lot of research on Southwestern witches and witchcraft. I love writing magical books and try to put magic in everything I write.

About the Author
Belinda was inspired from a real photograph of a girl standing between her mother and aunt. All three were witches. The haunted eyes of the young witch were intriguing and brought forth the idea of a series about a girl forced to follow in her mother's magical footsteps and join the family business, so to speak.

I purchased the first book "The Witch Narratives" and couldn't wait to read this one! I loved the characters in the book , and the authors imagination. Belinda is very creative with the southwestern folklore, I found myself reading this book in two days anticipating reading the next book , however "Rise of The Black Rose", isn't out yet.

Book exchanged for an honest review:Marcelina Rodriguez has been living in Santa Fe mourning the passing of her best friend Salia. Marcelina has twin daughters and helps support her family with her beauty salon called Eternal Beauty. Marcelina is also a practicing white witch because she fears becoming apart of Sisterhood of the Black Rose. U.S. Marshall Joseph Quill isn't at all who he appears to be but the only people who truly know this are dead and as they say dead men tell no tales. This book went much faster reading wise thant the first one did. I still thought the author did an excellent job of moving the story forward. One of my favorite characters is Storm Chaser. He's so powerful, respected, and feared for his abilities as shaman. Yet it's his flaws that draw me to his character more than any other. He has blind spot in certain areas especially concerning Dark Shadow's history. I look forward to next installment.

Even better than book one

Ghosts of the Black Rose picks up a few years after The Witch Narratives Reincarnation ends; still in the 1920s era and southwest local with more focus on Marcelina and other peripheral characters. It continues on in the same dark and brutal vein as book one while keeping up with the changing times. I believe that as I had read book one, this installment was not quite as dark and foreign to me. It is also quite a bit shorter, although still coming in at over two hundred pages, and I did not find myself putting it down as I had book one. I think I enjoyed this story a little more. There seemed to me to be a bit more going on with the storyline and less world building other than was appropriate for updating the changing times. Once again the writing was clean and beautiful, if dark, and in my opinion appeal to readers who enjoy this type of dark cultural story. I do feel that book one should be read first, as there is so much going on that if you do not have the background you might get lost. I am curious to see how the trilogy concludes and will be watching for the next installment.
